Recall Alert: 2012 BMW 3 Series

BMW is recalling about 7,600 3 Series vehicles from the 2012 model year since the head restraints within the front seats don't meet federal safety standards, in line with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In the affected vehicles, which have been built from Oct. 19, 2011, to March 18, if the top restraint is fully extended, it may possibly move down slightly in a crash, increasing the chance of harm. You could check your vehicle's build date at the sticker at the driver-side doorjamb.

Owners would be notified this month, and dealers will attach a clamp to the top restraint posts for gratis. Owners can call BMW at 800-525-7417 or NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 for more information.
