Ferdinand fitness doubt for Euros

Sir Alex Ferguson is unsure whether Rio Ferdinand can deal with playing in all of Englands matches at Euro 2012.

The Manchester United boss fears the 33-year-olds long-standing back problem would go away him unable to handle the harsh match schedule.

England could play six matches in 21 days in the event that they were to arrive the ultimate in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

Ferguson told MUTV: "You play something like a game every four days. Rio Ferdinand couldnt try this."

New England boss Roy Hodgson is decided to call his squad on Wednesday.

He has yet to talk with Ferdinand and deposed skipper John Terry about their willingness to play alongside one another.

Ferdinands back problem has caused calf, knee and hamstring injuries up to now, with the veteran making 37 appearances for United this season.

Ferguson has already written to the Football Association to give an explanation for why only Ryan Giggs is offered for nice Britains football squad at this summers London Olympics.

Jonny Evans requires an ankle operation and Chris Smalling might need groin surgery , while the club insist that any players involved with Euro 2012 shouldn't be considered for the Olympics.
