Green fronts Rangers takeover bid

The gang in pole position to shop for Rangers is fronted by former Sheffield United chief executive Charles Green.

His group joined the race to rescue the crisis-hit club last week when previous favourite Bill Miller withdrew his bid.

Little is understood in regards to the remainder of Greens consortium but it surely is thought there are links to Singapore.

During Greens stint at Bramall Lane the Blades were listed at the stock exchange in 1997, but results off and on the sphere were disappointing.

He quit a year after the floatation and re-emerged in football shortly after as chairman of the football agency Proactive Sports. The Cheshire-based firm had a variety of leading stars on its books, including Andrew Cole, Stan Collymore and Wayne Rooney.

But Green left Proactive in 2003 and has since held a lot of directorships at medical science firms. He's currently a non-executive chairman of the Singapore-based Nova Resources Ltd.

There are currently four parties with bids at the table for Rangers, who've been in administration since February 14, and a call on which bid would be accepted is predicted on Saturday.

Singaporean businessman Bill Ng had previously bid for Rangers and was understood to have re-entered the race after American Miller dropped out of the race.

However, it isn't known whether Green and Ng are a part of an identical consortium.

Brian Kennedy, who joined Paul Murrays Blue Knights to bid, told BBC Scotland their latest offer to shop for the club had failed.
