What\'s Facebook?

Facebook, an online-based social network site lets people get in contact with friends and family and reach out to those with common interests around the globe, all via computer.  It's incredibly popular, with greater than 900 million users.  If Facebook were a rustic, it's going to have about thrice the population of america.

Documents filed with U.S. financial regulators say Facebook has hundreds of millions of active users who send billions of messages every day and upload 250 million photographs on their personal pages.  Facebook users have registered 100 billion "friends."

On Facebook, "Friending" someone means you add the man in your list of individuals you might communicate with directly, which regularly allows the man to look additional info about you than you share with the public.

Started by Mark Zuckerberg and other students at Harvard University in 2004, Facebook has grown at an amazingly fast pace.

Facebook makes money when advertisers pay to get access to hundreds of millions of Facebook users.  Advertisers can often direct their messages to the folks most drawn to their products because Facebook computers keep track of data that users place on their pages.  As an example, a man fascinated with SCUBA diving, planning a marriage, seeking work, or affected by diabetes might even see advertisements regarding those topics.

Facebook has become a lot part of the culture of the us and other nations that it's been the topic of a Hollywood movie, is a key marketing tool for a lot of businesses, and its users' content was used as evidence in some divorce or criminal cases.
