Tottenhams Rafael van der Vaart has urged the club to sign striking partner Emmanuel Adebayor permanently, but concedes wages generally is a barrier.
Adebayor, who's on loan from Manchester City, impressed with a brace within the 3-1 win over Swansea on Sunday.
"i've tried to steer him to stick," said Van der Vaart. "Last season I had an amazing understanding with Peter Crouch, but with him its even better.
Rafael van der Vaart Tottenham striker"I think the issue is the wages. He's the best, a top striker.â
"Hes tall and powerful. Hes not selfish and his attitude is among the best."
The 28-year-old Togo international signed for Spurs on a season-long loan having had an unproductive spell on the Etihad Stadium.
Since arriving at White Hart Lane, he has scored 14 goals and played a very important role in Tottenhams push for a top four spot and a spot in next seasons Champions League.
Adebayor is reported to earn around £170,000 per week at City, a salary it truly is much higher than Spurs top-earners take home.
However, the Dutchman insists the club must work flat out to make Adebayor stay.

"i believe the difficulty is the wages," Van der Vaart added. "He's the best, a top striker.
"He played for Real Madrid, for Arsenal, Manchester City. i used to be surprised that he came and that i hope that he stays.
"He works his socks off, hes unbelievable. Hes so positive. We adore him here.
"Normally strikers look ahead to the danger and so they score, but he works hard to boot or even when he doesnt score, hes still important for the team. Hes a huge man for us."
