Dominic Dale believes Judd Trump doesn't deserve his favourite tag despite losing to last years runner-up within the first-round on the Crucible.

Dale lost 10-7 to the area number two, who came near to withdrawing from the tournament with food poisoning.

"Many of the other players have a look at Judd as a man whos a devastating potter and break-builder," said Dale, who was only 7-6 behind at one stage.

"But I always think you'd like more on your game than Judd has on the minute."

But, the arena number 27 said Trump may be pretty much as good a player as the late Paul Hunter, the 3-time Masters champion who passed on to the great beyond in 2006.

"The item i adore about Judd is hes willing to be informed and hes showing signs of being the player Paul Hunter was," added Dale.

"Paul was a good potter, an excellent break-builder, with bravery and courage stressed - he had the entire game.

"Give Judd another couple of years and hell be a little a Paul Hunter in relation to what other players call to mind him. Paul was a perilous player and really dangerous."

Meanwhile, Trump revealed he wouldn't have played if it have been any event except for the realm Championship.

"I havent eaten properly for 2 days. Im just glad to get out of there," said the 22-year-old, who has a couple of days off before his second-round match against either Ali Carter or Mark Davis on Saturday.

"It was tiring, I never really had control of the cue ball in the course of the whole match. many of the seeds have gone out, so Im just glad to be within the next round.

"Earlier in my career if I had played like that i'd have gotten down on myself because I wasnt putting on a show for the gang, but I needed to just get through it and that i wasnt bothered how I did it.

"Im still nowhere near my best but Ill have an afternoon in bed on Thursday and hopefully Ill be capable of practice on Friday."
