St Mirren have told takeover hopeful Ken McGeoch to resign from the board by end of commercial on Monday or they'll call a rare meeting.
The businessman had responded to an analogous request last week by saying he was willing to depart the club should someone buy his shareholding.
But he has also threatened the club with legal action.
The club had claimed that McGeoch had shown confidential information to Rangers company secretary.
However the St Mirren director insisted that he was doing nothing wrong by employing Gary Withey as his legal representative during the solicitors employer on the time, Collyer Bristow.
And he accused the St Mirren board of a "sustained campaign" against the takeover attempt being made by himself and colleague Paul Davies.
Now the board have told McGeoch to withdraw his threat of legal action against the club and resign as a director by Monday evening or a notice might be issued calling a rare meeting.
