IPCom's had its way with many mobile manufacturers, including Nokia and HTC, by suing them for patent infringement in German courts. However, the Finnish and Taiwanese firms got excellent news today when the eu Patent Office invalidated one among its 3G patents -- the exact same one it used to acquire an injunction against HTC. IPCom's unlikely away quietly, however, because it plans to appeal the EPO's decision. Meaning that the oldsters in Espoo and Taoyuan City aren't out of the woods yet -- but it surely should a minimum of give them a piece more bargaining power in negotiations to finish their (seemingly endless) legal spats.
