VIEWS FROM THE COMMENTARY BOX

BBC Sussexs Adrian Harms:

"Ultimately a comfy win for Surrey which confirms they are going to be genuine contenders for the County Championship this season, but credit Sussex who fought hard throughout, but didnt profit from their opportunities.

"The Surrey bowling attack looks particularly strong, with new signing Jon Lewis providing the experience to supplement the rate of Dernbach, Meaker and Jordan.

"Sussex might be disappointed, they bowled well enough with Amjad Khan and James Anyon both taking five-wicket hauls, however the batting was disappointing with the senior players Yardy, Joyce and Goodwin only scoring 46 runs between them inside the match.

"However Joe Gatting with 72 not out within the first innings, and especially Luke Wells with an impressive 108 within the second innings showed that the more youthful Sussex players have what it takes to compete at this level, and that augers well for the remainder of season."
